The Georges River Youth Literature Award (GRYLA) is a creative writing short story competition that has been established to reflect the aspirations and experiences of young people.

The competition, which ran from April 9 to July 3, was open to high school students Years 7-12 who live, study or play in the Georges River local government area.

Entrants were asked to choose from a selection of visual and text prompts to use as a writing stimulus for their creative writing piece. It just so happens that both of our winning entries chose the image below.

Each entry was awarded marks based on four criteria: originality, language, structure and integration of the writing stimulus and through this judging process we were able to select our winner and runner-up.

A big thank you to all who participated and congratulations to the winners of GRYLA!
