The Little Bang Discovery Club is a four week program for children aged 3 – 5 years old. Through a series of experiences and activities using everyday objects, children will learn the basics of science:
The program has been designed to use items that you can easily find at home or the supermarket. All sessions have an instructional video to guide you through each activity. This means you can work at your own pace, pause the video while you set up your activity and return to the video when you’re ready.
It also means you can do it as many times as you like!
We will post weekly equipment lists and any other information about the activities for you here on the BiblioBlog every Monday so you can get everything you need ready for the activities every Wednesday.
All the instructional videos will be posted on to our Facebook page every Wednesday starting on September 2 so you can follow along with all your equipment ready to go.
Session 1 Collecting and Classifying
We learn about the roles of the children and adults in the program and why children are already great scientists. Then we go on a treasure hunt to make our own Discovery Box.
Participants are encouraged to have the items (or similar) on hand to maximise their enjoyment of the on-line sessions of the Little Bang Discovery Club. The equipment required for each session is listed under ‘you will need’ in each session description
You will need for session 1:
approx. 6 pairs of socks, hats, t-shirts
approx. 10 small toys e.g. Matchbox cars, small animals, Duplo Lego bricks
